The bed rock of the nation lies with the strong foundation of family and a clear respect for life.  

Marriage is the fundamental building block of our society. To preserve traditional marriage, I have introduced and promoted constitutional amendments defining marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Our Founding Fathers were clear.  All people have rights given to them by their Creator, and the first among these is the right to life.  Without the right to life, all other rights are meaningless, and for that reason, I have always been strongly opposed to abortion. During congressional debate on this subject, I informed my colleagues that ten times the number of American lives lost in all of our nation’s wars have been lost in the continuing tragedy of abortion.

With time and continuing education, the effort to protect the sanctity of life will prevail, but we must be vigilant.  We cannot allow federal funds to be used for abortions; we must continue to stand against those who accept abortion on demand. I have introduced legislation to repeal federal funding of abortion, and I will continue to fight to make sure that the constitutional promises of life and liberty are not denied to the unborn.
