5. Have you had trouble obtaining your service record?
Military service records are kept at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis Missouri. Some of these records were affected by a major fire in 1973. These include 80% of Army personnel discharged November 1, 1912 to January 1, 1960 and 75% of the records for Air Force personnel discharged September 25, 1947 to January 1, 1964. (This applies to names alphabetically listed after Hubbard.) There are no other copies of these destroyed records, which may make the obtaining process difficult.
